chalk art.
saturday my cousin mel and i participated in youthville's chalk art festival in newton. too my surprise i enjoyed it way more than i thought i would. i love art. i have grown up trying to do every art form possible but 3-D is more my strength. although now i am very much more curious to explore some wonderful 2-D work. anyway, i learned a lot of myself this weekend and youthville. and more importantly, the worship form of art.
youthville is an amazing program and they are really working hard to encourage these kids to believe in themselves, find confidence in who they are even though the majority of their lives has been an entire outlet of complete and total negativity.
they had the kids desgin shoes for an art (outlet) project. and they were outstanding! completely marvelous. full of creativity and originality, i was completely blown away. these kids showed so much of who they are in a small symbol of a shoe.
so for all of you who think art is just some weird-corky-pot-smoking-phenomenon. think again. it rather is a language in which those who feel trapped in silence can speak.
